Reconfigure the ISA App on MacOS

The ISA App must always be associated with a User Profile in order to connect successfully. This Article provides guidance on how to configure a new User Profile on a device where the ISA App is already configured for another user. Such a need would typically arise in cases where company-owned devices are re-assigned.

The ISA App for MacOS does support multiple User Profiles to be configured on a single device, although only one profile would be allowed to connect at a time. However, that is out of scope for this guide.

In order for a new User Profile to be configured on the device, it is recommended to remove the earlier installation and User Profile first.

Step 1: Exit the ISA App

In case the ISA App is still running, 'Disconnect' and 'Exit' from the Notifications Area of the Taskbar

Step 2: Uninstall the ISA App

Open Terminal, and run the following commands one at a time:

sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/InstaSafe/
sudo rm -rf /Library/Application\ Support/InstaSafe/
sudo rm -rf /Applications/InstaSafe.app

Step 3: Login to the ISA Portal

Login to the ISA portal (https://<<company>>.instasafe.com) specific to your organization. You could make use of the credentials provided by your organization's Admins to login to the portal.

In case Two Factor Authentication has been configured, an OTP will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number which would need to be entered in order to proceed.
Depending on the type of deployment setup opted for by the organization, these credentials may either be the Domain Credentials (synced with the corporate IAM) or created locally in the ISA Management Console by the Admins. In some cases, the Admins might even allow users to set their own ISA passwords. In this case, users would receive an email through which they could set their own passwords, in addition to the regular 'welcome email'.

It is expected that the Admins convey this information to all users of the organization that would be making use of the ISA solution.

Users that are locally provisioned can change their passwords within the ISA portal once logged in.

Step 4: Download the ISA App

Once logged in, you can download the ISA App installer for MacOS

The installation file for macOS is unique to every user, and tied to the user profile. The installer downloaded for one user must not be used for installation by another user.

Step 5: Install the ISA App

Once the Mac installation file has been downloaded, head over to the ‘Downloads’ folder.

Right-click the downloaded file, click ‘Open With’ and select ‘Other’

Select the application ‘Terminal’ and click ‘Open’

Click on ‘I Agree’ to accept the License Agreement and begin the installation

Double click the file InstaSafe.dmg in the new window that opens up and enter your local system administrator account credentials if prompted.

The ISA App will now show up under ‘Applications’.

This could be copy-pasted to the desktop for easy access.

Step 6: Connect the ISA App

Double click and launch the ISA App.

With the ISA App connected, you should now be able to access your organization's internal applications as per the Access Policies defined.
It is expected that the Admins of the organization provide all users a list of their individual network entitlements, the respective FQDNs/IP Addresses of the application servers and their login details.
In case you are unable to reconfigure the ISA App by following these steps, please contact your organization's IT Team.
